Libyan flood survivors have begun returning to what’s left of their homes following devastating floods in the northeastern part of the country. Civilian volunteers continued the grim task of searching for survivors and bodies of victims, as the death toll in Derna surged past 11,300 as of September 16, 2023, with thousands more missing. Hundreds of buildings have been destroyed with tens of thousands of people displaced by the flooding.
