Australian journalist Cheng Lei, who has been detained in China on national security charges, has issued her first public statement in three years. In it, she describes harsh conditions of her detention, saying that she misses her family. Cheng was a business anchor for Chinese state television when she was accused of providing unspecified state secrets to another country. The Australian government has repeatedly raised concerns about Cheng’s detention.
