UK govt redefines 'extremism': New definition follows increase in hate crimes

The UK government has unveiled a new definition of extremism, under which certain groups will be blocked from government funding. The change comes just a week after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak warned of what he called a ‘shocking increase in extremist disruption that risked the country tipping into mob rule’. The government says the problem has intensified since Israel’s war on Gaza began.
