As of November 21, 2023, more than 800 Rohingya Muslim refugees from Myanmar had reached the shores of Aceh province in Indonesia in just one week. While the Muslim-majority state’s residents are sympathetic to the plight of the Rohingyas, some say their resources cannot accommodate the new arrivals. Some Rohingyas are already being forced back out to sea.
