COVID-19 crisis escalates across Asia Pacific

Authorities in Australia’s second most populous state of Victoria have imposed a one-week lockdown to contain a COVID-19 outbreak detected earlier this week.
Elsewhere in the region, Taiwan reported 667 new domestic COVID-19 cases on Thursday, a day after it tightened curbs to contain the rise in infections.
Malaysia, which now has more cases per capita than India, is struggling to contain the virus.
Al Jazeera’s Florence Looi reports from Kuala Lumpur.
