Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jnr on July 24, 2023, touted his administration’s successes over the past year, including battling inflation and getting the economy back on track. But, he said a number of economic challenges lie ahead. A short distance away from the Congress building where he spoke, hundreds of protesters pressed the government to deal with issues ranging from low wages and high inflation, to the environment.
