Paris Olympics to see swimming in River Seine to return after 100 years – BBC News

The final phase of a historic cleaning effort of the River Seine in Paris is taking place ahead of the 2024 Olympics.

The river has been declared a “no-go zone” due to its vast levels of pollution for almost a century.

But a €1.4bn (£1.2bn; $1.6bn) clean-up of the Seine hopes to leave a legacy of the games fit for the public to use from 2025.
