How will Hamas react to the killing of one of its top leaders? | Inside Story

It is being seen as a major blow against Hamas’ leadership.
The assassination of its deputy chief, Saleh al-Arouri, could signal a new approach by Israel to its war on Gaza.
The top commander was killed in Lebanon’s capital in a drone strike, raising the risk of fighting escalating well beyond the strip.
Israel has neither confirmed nor denied its involvement, saying the strike was not an attack against Lebanon.
Nearly three months into Israel’s war on Gaza, al-Arouri’s killing will likely intensify hostilities between Israel and Hamas.
So, will they expand beyond existing conflict zones?
