Hong Kong leader John Lee Ka-chiu is expected to be banned from this year’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in San Francisco. China has condemned the reported move by the US, which is hosting the next Apec gathering in San Francisco. Lee has been under US sanctions since June 2020, when he was Hong Kong secretary for security and while Beijing imposed a national security law on the city.
