China’s BYD, the world’s biggest electric vehicle maker, unveiled three battery-energy vehicles (EV) in Indonesia on January 18, 2024. BYD overtook Tesla as the world’s largest EV maker in the fourth quarter of 2023, with most of the 526,000 vehicles sold during the period were sold domestically. The company has expressed goals of expanding its presence globally in 2024, into places such as Southeast Asia.
