Turkey local elections: Van mayor could be reinstated after protests

Turkey’s election authority has reversed a decision to block a newly-elected mayor from taking office in the city of Van.

It comes after large demonstrations and arrests in several cities when the election result was overturned.
Local officials had said a previous conviction meant Abdullah Zeydan, from the pro-Kurdish DEM party, was ineligible for public office.

Al Jazeera’s Sinem Koseoglu is monitoring the latest updates from the demonstrations in Van in eastern Turkey.
