A gorilla named Bua Noi has been caged alone in a private zoo in a shopping centre in Bangkok, Thailand for over three decades. Animal rights activists have long campaigned for Bua Noi to be moved from Pata Zoo into the wild, but the family who owns the primate continues to resist public and government pressure. The furore over Bua Noi’s captivity comes as tourists return to Thailand, where the kingdom has been trying to position itself as more nature-friendly.
