At least seven people were reported dead and 711 injured after a 7.3 magnitude earthquake struck the east coast of Taiwan on the morning of April 3, 2024. The quake’s epicentre was located in waters about 25km (15.5 miles) south of the eastern county of Hualien and 138km (86 miles) from Taipei, according to Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau. The shock was felt across the island and caused several buildings to collapse.
