Thousands of people in Pakistan and Iraq have continued months-long protests calling for ‘justice’ after copies of Islam’s holy book were desecrated several times by anti-Islam protesters in Sweden and Denmark, starting in January 2023. Both countries grant legal protections to the act as an expression of free speech, but that’s led to condemnation and violence from countries across the Muslim world.
