Meanwhile in Pandalam municipality BJP has a surprising victory by securing a clear majority in 17 of the 33 wards. This is for the first time that the BJP is getting hold of a municipality in the State. Last time BJP won seven seats in Pandalam and this time it has increased to 10. Pandalam municipality was won by the LDF last time. This victory of the BJP seems that in central Kerala, Pandalam is becoming a stronghold of BJP. Meanwhile, speculations are arising that the LDF’S stand on Sabarimala issue might have paved the way for this unexpected victory of the BJP in Pandalam.
