About 250 Rohingya refugees reached western Indonesia on November 16, 2023, in the latest batch of refugees to reach western Indonesia in as many days. So far, about 600 refugees from three boats have arrived from Myanmar since November 14. Many members of the persecuted minority have been fleeing to Muslim-majority Bangladesh, Malaysia and Indonesia, as well as Thailand, since a violent crackdown was carried out by the Myanmar military in 2017.
