Indian city of Ayodhya breaks own Guinness record with nearly 1.5 million oil lamps lit for Diwali

The Indian holy city of Ayodhya has set a new world record for largest display of oil lamps during its celebrations for Diwali, the annual Hindu festival of lights. More than 1.5 million lamps, called diya in Hindi, were lit during Diwali celebrations in the northern city on October 23, 2022. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among those attending the ceremony.
