Civilians flee Ukraine’s fighting along “humanitarian corridors” – BBC News

Humanitarian corridors have been set up in Ukraine in an attempt to allow hundreds of thousands of people to escape the fighting.

One corridor is from Sumy in the north-east, close to the Russian border, to Poltava, further south. It’s a journey of almost 200 kilometres.

Tens of thousands of people have fled there from Sumy in recent days.

Reeta Chakrabarti in Lviv presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Sarah Rainsford in Poltava.
