Tens of millions of people are battling dangerously high temperatures in the United States, Europe and Asia in the latest example of the consequences of global warming. The European Union’s climate monitoring service said the world saw its hottest June on record last month. The extreme weather has displaced thousands of people, killed scores of others and has hit the poor particularly hard.
