United Airlines plans to buy supersonic jets that can cut travel time in half

United Airlines said on June 3, 2021, that it would buy at least 15 Overture jets from the Denver-based company Boom Supersonic. The deal could bring back supersonic air travel, which died out when British Airways and Air France scrapped their Concorde fleets for trans-Atlantic flights in 2003.
