For most of her life Haseena Akhtar has been spinning yarn to make traditional Kashmiri pashmina shawls. A craft that provided many women with jobs.

But the emergence of weaving machinery, and decreasing wages over the past 30 years, have forced these women out of the trade and has taken away their financial independence.

Kadri Mujtaba runs a Pashmina company and is hoping to bring the old skills of the Pashmina weaving back to every day life in Kashmir.
