The Pentagon said it was tracking what it claims to be a Chinese spy balloon flying over the US for several days. Eyewitness video taken on February 1, 2023, showed what appears to be a large white balloon over the northwestern state of Montana. China did not immediately substantiate the claims, but said it is looking into the allegations. Beijing and Washington have a long history of spying on each other, but the timing of the incident has raised eyebrows. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken is expected to make his first official trip to Beijing during the weekend starting February 4.
