How wildfires could be stopped with technology – BBC News

New technology is being developed to see whether early signs of wildfires can be detected.

AI systems have been taught to recognise the start of a wildfire, and send a mobile alert if there’s a threat of a blaze.

Longer, hotter, drier spells, all linked to climate change, are causing more wildfires across the globe, even in cooler climates.

Researchers think this kind of technology could help prevent future wildfires by identifying landscapes that are most at risk, and allowing rescue crews to make better use of their resources.
