George Floyd death: Trump comments on widespread protests around the U.S.

On Saturday U.S. President Trump commented on the protests and violent incidents that have taken place in several American cities following the death of George Floyd. Floyd, a Black man, was seen on video gasping for breath while a white police officer knelt on his neck until he became unresponsive in Minneapolis, MN.

“It should never have happened,” Trump said adding his administration has opened a civil rights investigation. He said one officer has already been charged with murder and the three other officers are facing possible charges as well.

Trump also suggested Antifa was responsible for the “rioters, looters and anarchists” causing much of the problems. However, it was unclear what evidence supports this suggestion.
