Dozens of rescued smuggled radiated tortoises and other endangered tortoises at Hong Kong’s Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden have been in limbo since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. The reptiles, along with nearly 400 other animals, are waiting to be resettled at other zoos or conservation centres abroad. But skyrocketing transport costs brought on by the pandemic may likely cause continued delays before they can be sent to their new homes.
