Don’t Sell Me Mama is an RT Documentary film that investigates people selling their children to buy food in Afghanistan.

Afghanistan today is considered to have the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. There is virtually no economy, and the local currency is rapidly losing its value. According to various estimates, about two million families are economic migrants. Under these circumstances, many parents in Afghanistan see no other way out than selling their daughters.

The average price is $ 1,500 – $2,000, and for people who are deep in debt and earn an occasional dollar a day, this is a lot. They say they will be forced to starve and freeze to death if they don’t do it – firewood costs money. People used to collect twigs and rubbish from the streets to heat their stoves, but now it’s all gone. With the money they get from the sale, the parents hope to buy rice and oil and feed the rest of the family.
