Around 100 Australian police and soldiers arrived in the Solomon Islands on November 26, 2021, after days of rioting in the capital Honiara. Shops were looted and dozens of buildings were burned down in the city’s Chinatown. This prompted the nation’s leader to request assistance from neighbouring countries.
