Billed as the world’s largest electric cruise ship, the Yangtze River Three Gorges 1 embarked on its maiden voyage in Yichang, in central China’s Hubei province on March 29, 2022. According to Chinese state media, the river-going vessel has a battery with the world’s largest power cell capacity. Propelled by clean hydroelectric energy, the ship can reportedly save 530 tonnes of fuel and reduce harmful emissions by 1,660 tonnes per year. It’s capable of carrying up to 1,300 passengers, with a length of 328ft (100 metres) and a width of 53ft (16.2 metres).
