The Well of Barhout, a giant hole located in the desert of Al-Mahra province in Yemen’s eastern region, is surrounded by mystery. Local folklore claims it was created as a prison for demons. Mahra’s geological survey and mineral resources authority says it has discovered “strange things inside” and has called for further research.
