Spencer Sullivan, a US Army veteran who served in Afghanistan, is helping his former local translator, Abdulhaq Sodais, gain asylum in Germany. Sodais’ future outside of Afghanistan hangs in the balance after he was denied a US visa. Sullivan had worked with another translator who was killed by the Taliban as he was waiting for his US visa and the ex-soldier said he was determined not to let Sodais suffer the same fate.
