Tougher Covid rules in England as Boris Johnson faces resignation calls over Xmas party – BBC News

It came as the prime minister Boris Johnson faced calls to resign over claims that staff at Downing Street held a party last Christmas in breach of lockdown rules.

One of the prime minister’s senior officials, Allegra Stratton, has resigned after joking about breaching the rules in a video leaked to the media.
