The woman trying to stop period poverty in South Africa – BBC News

Tamara Magwashu grew up using old rags when she was on her periods due to poverty, she grew up in a shanty town in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa and was bullied severely.

She has now created her own business, delivering free pads to hundreds of schools in the country to ensure no girl goes through what she did.

Tamara has been nominated by her community for Forbes 30 under 30. Gem O’Reilly met her at the event.
