A daughter who fled North Korea to be reunited with her mother has spoken about her treacherous, year-long journey to freedom.

Escaping North Korea is a dangerous and difficult feat and in recent years, Kim Jong Un has clamped down harder on those trying to flee.

At the outset of the pandemic, he sealed the country’s borders, making Songmi Park, then 17, one of the last known people to make it out.
