Thai fisherman finds whale vomit worth over US$1 million

Fisherman Narong Phetcharaj found a 30kg lump of ambergris, also known as whale vomit, on a beach in southern Thailand’s Surat Thani province on September 27, 2021. Dubbed “floating gold”, the rare substance produced by sperm whales is a valuable ingredient in perfumes. The piece Narong found could be worth more than US$1 million.
