Taiwan’s health officials said they remain committed to living with the virus, as the self-ruled island’s Covid-19 cases exceeded 11,000 a day on April 28, 2022. Health minister Chen Shih-chung said Taiwan is likely facing a new pandemic wave, with daily cases peaking between 40,000 and 100,000 before it starts subsiding. Taiwan will instead focus on increasing the vaccination rate as new supplies arrive. Currently, some 80 per cent of residents have been administered two shots of a Covid-19 vaccine and 58 per cent have also received a booster.
