Russia parliament approves Putin request to send troops

President Vladimir Putin’s request to Russian parliament to send troops abroad.
Earlier, the Russians had sent what they call peacekeepers to breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine – which Moscow has now recognised.
That prompted a sharp response from the West.
Germany has put its gas pipeline project with Russia on hold. And the UK has announced sanctions against five Russian banks and three individuals.
