An Afghan toddler has been reunited with her siblings and uncle’s family in the Qatari capital Doha on March 27, 2023, after being orphaned during a family attempt to flee Kabul when the Taliban re-took Afghanistan. Her parents were killed in the Kabul airport bombing on August 26, 2021, as they fled with their four children on an evacuation flight. Aliza, who was only several weeks old at the time, was saved by a boy who carried her on the flight to Doha.
