Nostalgic fried chicken brand takes over KFC in Russia

The Russian version of KFC opened its first restaurant in the capital Moscow on April 25, 2023. Rostic’s took over the outlets when KFC exited the country after the 2021 Russian invasion of Ukraine. Rostic’s was originally a home-grown fried chicken brand in the early days after the break-up of the Soviet Union. Many Western brands, including McDonald’s and Starbucks, have also left the country because of the war.
