US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has made “crystal clear” to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi that Washington has not changed its one-China policy regarding Taiwan, according to US officials. But China released a statement from Wang saying that Beijing requires Washington to “pursue a real one-China policy”. During talks on the sidelines of the Group of 20 (G20) summit in Rome on October 31, 2021, both senior diplomats also acknowledged that dialogue should be restarted and confrontation is to be avoided to maintain mutually beneficial cooperation between the two nations.
