Turkey’s President is laying the foundation stone in a mega-project that will link the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara.
The Istanbul Canal will open up a new lucrative trade route and will be about 45 kilometers (28 miles) long. But environmentalists warn of a devastating effect on wildlife and agriculture.
