The new bridge called the Cross Bay Link, forms a 1.8km two-lane carriageway across Hong Kong’s Junk Bay, and is the first in the territory to accommodate cars, cyclists and pedestrians. It connects to a cycling track along the nearby Tseung Kwan O waterfront, giving cyclists a 5km scenic coastal loop. The bridge opens on the same day as the 2.2km Tseung Kwan O-Lam Tin Tunnel, which will connect the residential cluster of Tseung Kwan O to the commercial hub of Kwun Tong, reducing vehicle travel time by up to 20 minutes.
