Floods displace more than 36,000 residents in northeast Italy

Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has cut short her participation at the G7 summit in Japan to return home after deadly floods killed 14 people and devastated Italy’s northeast region of Emilia-Romagna.
Meanwhile, cleanup operations have started in the area where the floods caused more than 305 landslides and damaged or closed more than 500 roads in the Emilia-Romagna region.
