Mountaineers are using oxygen-deprivation tents ahead of their expeditions to the world’s highest peak, Mount Everest. As Covid-19 infections surge in Nepal, a growing number of climbers are pre-acclimatising at home. They hope to lower the risk of exposure to the virus by reducing the amount of time they would normally need in Nepal to get used to the high altitude before their climbs.
