Ethiopia's PM calls on citizens to join fight against Tigrayan rebels

In Ethiopia, two rebel groups have joined forces.
Fighters from the Tigray People’s Liberation Front say they have linked up with rebels from the most populous region, Oromia.
This comes as the TPLF has launched a new offensive.
They have seized a town on an important highway connecting the capital, Addis Ababa.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has urged all Ethiopians to mobilise in the fight against Tigrayan rebels.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken tweeted, saying the United States is alarmed over the TPLF’s takeover of the towns of Dessie and Kombolcha and has urged both sides to stop fighting.
