Endangered Chinese alligator population recovering amid China’s artificial breeding efforts

China’s National Forestry and Grassland Administration announced on July 16, 2021, that the number of Chinese alligators has gone up after years of protection. The endangered species has been artificially bred as part of its conservation efforts. A nature reserve in China’s eastern Anhui province reported that roughly 20,000 Chinese alligators have been born through artificially breeding, while 1,040 have been released into the wild.
