The UK’s largest warship, the HMS Queen Elizabeth, is on its way back to British shores after an extended mission to the South China Sea. It has reportedly sailed more than 40,000 nautical miles since May 2021, to carry out training exercises and missions in Asia, together with support ships from the Royal Navy and other naval forces. The trip comes amid a strategic ‘tilt’ by Britain towards the Indo-Pacific region, amid China’s growing influence on the world stage.
