A suspicious backpack was found near the hotel in Brasilia where Brazil’s President-elect Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was staying on December 27, 2022, just days ahead of his inauguration. Local police later confirmed it only contained personal belongings. The bomb scare highlighted tensions amid protests by supporters of outgoing right-wing president Jair Bolsonaro.
