Bangladesh to open 500 new ‘moderate’ mosques in $1bn project

Bangladesh’s government is planning to open more than 500 new mosques.
It says the $1bn project is essential to tackle what it calls “extremism”, and to bring accurate information about Islam to the public.
But critics accuse the government of politicising religion.
