Analysis and results from Georgia Senate runoff elections – 1/5 (FULL LIVE STREAM)

A pair of runoff elections in Georgia will determine which party controls the U.S. Senate. Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R) faces Rev. Raphael Warnock (D), while former senator David Perdue (R) is running against Jon Ossoff (D).

Democrats need to win both races to get to a 50-50 tie in the Senate. If they can do that, they’ll effectively have the majority, because Vice President-elect Kamala D. Harris can cast a tie-breaking vote. That would hand over the reins of the Senate to Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.) and put current Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) back in the minority.

The Post’s Libby Casey will anchor live coverage, featuring reporters Rhonda Colvin, James Hohmann, Hannah Jewell, Amber Phillips and Cleve Wootson, Jr.. Nicole Ellis and Joyce Koh will report from the ground in Georgia. Read more: https://wapo.st/3nfRiw3. Subscribe to The Washington Post on YouTube: https://wapo.st/2QOdcqK
